30 Days of Public Health is a month-long initiative designed to raise awareness about the purpose of public health departments and how they serve communities, the profession and its many career options, and the employees who dedicate their time and energy to serving the people of Illinois through IDPH.

Governor JB Pritzker helps IDPH launch our annual 30 Days of Public Health, an initiative expanding National Public Health Week into a month-long celebration. Each April, we spend the month honoring public health heroes, highlighting community health efforts, and showcasing the vital role of public health in our everyday lives.

Celebrating Those Who Keep Illinois Healthy

Throughout the month of April, IDPH will highlight "Public Health Heroes" to showcase the incredible work of our dedicated staff and the vital role public health plays in our communities. Next, we will feature historical figures who paved the way for modern public health, "Public Health Leaders." Last we will also showcase our impactful programs and initiatives through "Did you know IDPH . . ." To stay updated on everything, be sure to follow us!

Public Health History Minute

The Public Health History Minute is a daily bite-sized piece of Illinois public health history for the duration of 30 Days of Public Health. Tune in for a minute every day to hear the story public health in Illinois.

Did You Know IDPH Supports Public Health Through Grants?

We are committed to advancing public health by providing grant funding to organizations that make a difference in our communities. IDPH provides grant funding to OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois/St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria to enhance pediatric emergency care and disaster preparedness through the Illinois EMS for Children (EMSC) program.

IDPH Job Fair

IDPH Job Fair: This event will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the John R. Block Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield.

The Healthy Illinois 2028 State Health Assessment

The State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP), part of the Healthy Illinois 2028 initiative, is a statewide strategy outlining goals, objectives, and recommended actions to improve public health. SHIP's goal is to advance health equity based on extensive data analysis and stakeholder collaboration, with implementation led by IDPH and supported by public and private partners.
