Vital Statistics

IDPH each year records about a half million vital record events -- births, deaths, marriages, divorces, adoptions and abortions -- as mandated by state statutes and federal uniform data collection requirements.

EMS Data Reporting System

Epidemiology

The Illinois Department of Public Health's Division of Epidemiologic Studies is responsible for developing and managing the Illinois Health and Hazardous Substances Registry (Illinois Health and Hazardous Substances Registry Act [410 ILCS 525/1 et seq.], enacted in September 1984).

Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System

The Illinois Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) is an ongoing population-based survey of women who have recently delivered a live born infant in Illinois.

A state-based program that gathers information on risk factors among Illinois adults 18 years of age and older through monthly telephone surveys.

The IDPH Institutional Review Board (IRB) reviews research studies to ensure that the rights and well-being of people who are subjects in research are protected. 

Illinois Morbidity and Mortality Bulletin

The IMMB is IDPH's primary publication for scientific articles of interest to public health communities and professionals in Illinois.

Syndromic Surveillance

Syndromic surveillance is the collection of health related data, that is received as early as possible when illness begins to provide overall population-based awareness of the spread of disease in Illinois.
