Illinois Department Of Public Health Recognizes Bridget Wild, M.D. For Excellence In Pediatric Care
Ron W. Lee, M.D. Pediatric Care Award – Clinical Excellence
SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois Emergency Medical Services for Children (EMSC) program are honoring Dr. Bridget Wild at NorthShore University HealthSystem with a special pediatric Clinical Excellence Award for her contributions to childhood care. The Ron W. Lee, M.D. – Excellence in Pediatric Care Awards are given annually by IDPH and EMSC to recognize those dedicated to pediatric emergency care and childhood injury prevention initiatives. Individuals or organizations can be nominated in one of three award categories - Lifetime Achievement, Clinical Excellence, and Community Service.
“With an eight-page resume full of honors, appointments, certifications, research, national presentations, publications, and more, it is easy to see why Dr. Wild’s co-workers wanted to recognize her for her clinical excellence,” said IDPH Director Nirav D. Shah, M.D., J.D. “For her dedication and enthusiasm, I am honored to present Dr. Bridget Wild with the Ron W. Lee, M.D. - Excellence in Pediatric Care Clinical Service Award.”
Dr. Wild has developed various curriculums for pediatric emergency medicine, pediatricians, perinatal, and neonatal medicine.
Pediatric FAST Program - a simulation program for the first five minutes of in-hospital cardiopulmonary emergencies with a focus on action-linked phrases and rapid cycle practice.
NeoFAST Program for Level II Nursery Providers - a program for physicians and nurses to practice neonatal resuscitation skills and communication.
ASPIRE (Achieving Safe Partnerships to Recognize and Rescue) Program – a simulation program to improve recognition of impending clinical deterioration, create understanding of resource utilization and RRT activation, and promote a culture of vigilance.
Sudden Unexpected Perinatal Collapse (SUPC) – a video and multimedia CME module for labor and delivery staff and pediatricians.
“Beyond these exemplary projects, Dr. Wild has been a tireless advocate for our most critical patients and has succeeded in advancing the care for them. She has elevated all of us as a leader and mentor. She has been instrumental in educating staff in our Infant Special Care Unit and sits on multiple committees within our corporation,” said several NorthShore University HealthSystem EDAP Pediatric Quality Coordinators. “Dr. Wild brings passion and energy as she teaches staff; her enthusiasm is boundless, and the staff and her patients are the benefactors of her passion.”
The Ron W. Lee, M.D. Excellence in Pediatric Care awards are presented each May. Dr. Lee was the medical director for the Division of Emergency Medical Services and Highway Safety at IDPH, as well as the director of emergency medicine at Loyola University Medical Center and was instrumental in establishing and fostering the EMSC program in Illinois. He passed away in 1998.
The Illinois EMSC program is currently a collaborative effort between IDPH and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago. It was established in 1994 to ensure the emergency medical care needs of children are adequately addressed.
