An Illinois Trauma Center is a hospital participating in an approved Emergency Medical Services System and designated by the Illinois Department of Public Health to provide optimal care to trauma patients. There are two levels of Trauma Centers in Illinois. IDPH appointments and supports a Trauma Advisory Council to advise the Department and Regional Trauma Council activities.
